King's Cross Station's 1,392 glass laminate solar units covering 2,300sqm on the Main Train Shed roof, were turned on on the 28th September 2012. The installation is expected to generate 175,000 kWh per year and should save over 100 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
The solar panel project overseen by Sundog Energy expect the panels to provide approximately 10% of the stations' electricity and will have a public screen showing real time data of how much energy is being generated.
