Passive Design
The practice's design for the Lavender Sure Start and Children's Centre in Tamworth, Surrey, provides a 1,000sqm neighbourhood nursery and community facility for the London Borough of Merton.  Conceived as a pavilion, the building provides flexible accommodation for community needs.  Modular in conception, the design facilitated off-site fabrication and speedy site assembly.  The building uses sustainably sourced building materials and is environmentally responsive through its aspect and orientation, optimising daylight penetration and natural ventilation, whilst mitigating solar gain through the application of external shading.
The Postgraduate Statistics Centre at Lancaster University was developed in response to orientation and programme; the south elevation is louvred to mitigate summertime solar gain with solar chimneys facilitating passive ventilation.
