10 Palace Gate

The practice remodelled this Grade II* Listed apartment building, designed by Wells Coates in 1939.  Palace Gate is among the best examples of inter-War modernism in London, while Coates is considered to be one of the most influential designers of the period.  Whilst the essential character of the building remained intact, alterations made during the 1960's detracted from the original design, and notable architectural features had been removed over time.  Part of the practice's commission therefore consisted of reinstating original historic detailing.
