Heal's, Tottenham Court Road

John McAslan + Partners has completed the first phase of refurbishing the Grade II * listed Heal's Building on Tottenham Court Road. The scheme transforms former factory buildings and offices, improving connectivity and access. Two dramatic 4-storey atria spaces are linked by an internal 'street', terminating in a landscaped courtyard garden. Steelframed planar glass boxes cantilever into the atrium space, providing additional meeting spaces and animation. Original parquet flooring and large sliding warehouse doors are retained, but all windows on the Torrington Place elevation are accurate replicas of the Crittal originals. The entrance lobby and reception space on Torrington Place have also been re-modelled, with a LED back-lit barisol ceiling. The 40,000 sqft of office space has a BREEAM 'Very Good' rating. Phase 2 of the project includes new entrance doors for the Heal's store within its distinctive Tottenham Court Road shopfront.
