Royal Military Academy

Woolwich's Royal Military Academy was built between 1805 and 1906 and consists of a number of outstanding Grade II* and Grade II listed buildings.  Within this setting, the practice has created an urban village of new and refurbished buildings with 320 residential units, supported by attractive squares, gardens, and new pedestrian routes that have added a new sense of social energy.  The residential-led mixed-use development includes retail and community facilities.  A key intention was to preserve the existing architectural and historical gravitas of the buildings and site, ensuring that most of the existing buildings were retained and refurbished.
