St Paul's Girls' School is one of the UK's most respected senior independent schools. JMP was appointed in December 2010 as strategic estate advisors to identify current and future development opportunities for their site in Brook Green, West London.
The school site has undergone piecemeal development over the preceding century, based around distinguished original buildings, which are now Grade II listed. The original St Paul's buildings were designed by Gerald Horsely at the beginning of the 20th century, and alongside the main school are the Gustav Holst Music Wing and High Mistress' House, both also listed.
The aim is that future development complements the historic context while providing technology-rich learning environments that will ensure the highest teaching standards. The practice's proposals include both new structures and interventions within existing buildings: new buildings include a Senior School hub, History and Geography departments, while the reconfigured Forum Building and Link Space will provide central staff areas, meeting rooms and offices. In addition, the old pool building will be reconfigured, creating a new lower ground level and a new Sports Building will replace the existing inadequate facilities.
Planning permission has been approved and start on site will commence in Summer 2016.
