Turnpike Centre

The Turnpike Centre in Leigh is a landmark building constructed in 1971 at the heart of Leigh's town centre conservation area and houses a library and gallery.  This feasibility study maximises the potential of the building as a catalyst for the broader regeneration of the town centre.  JMP's proposal is to refurbish the existing building and provide a new flexible performance space and entrance foyer, supplementing the existing library and gallery.  In addition, the study addresses the way the building relates to its broader context can be enhanced, especially the public realm around the town's Market Place.
