The Marq is a new-build commercial development at 77–79 Jermyn Street, within the St James’s Conservation Area. The 46,000 sq ft building provides six floors of office accommodation above flagship retail and restaurant spaces at ground level, supported by three basement levels.
Planning policy dictated that any new building should positively enhance the character of the area. Designed in collaboration with Rolfe Judd for The Crown Estate, the richly detailed building makes a contemporary response to the sensitive urban context.

Facades of brick and Portland stone incorporate artworks by Jacqueline Poncelet that evoke the history of exquisite tailoring for which the street is famous. One is integrated in deep, splayed window reveals on the building’s corner through carved and gilded stonework. Patinated bronze gates mark the entrance, leading to a reception area featuring an integrated terrazzo artwork.
On completion, The Marq achieved a UK first: a BREEAM New Construction rating of ‘Outstanding’ for its shell and core alongside WELL Gold certification. This dual recognition reflects a design approach that prioritises exceptional environmental performance together with the health, wellbeing and productivity of occupants.
