Friends House Garden

London, UK. 2015

Tucked off Euston Road in Central London, Friends House Garden offers a tranquil retreat in this busy traffic-dominated area. JMP’s landscape team were commissioned by Quakers in Britain to transform their arrival space into a beautiful updated ‘Pocket Park’, with the aim of also improving accessibility to their newly refurbished Grade II listed building, a scheme also delivered by JMP. Through a series of interventions, our team removed barriers to accessibility, connected the building’s café with the garden, created new terrace spaces for alfresco dinning and relaxation, and provided ample lawn space to play host to Quaker and local community events. The refurbished gardens remain true to the Quaker’s commitment to serving the local community and have become an inclusive and remarkable urban space for the building’s users and local community alike.
