Director

Andy Harris joined John McAslan + Partners in 2010, is a member of the Board, and leads the practice’s Landscape and Urban Design Studio. He has over 25 years’ experience in the design and delivery of masterplanning, urban design, and public realm projects in the UK and internationally.

Andy has worked across a wide range of scales and sectors, including infrastructure, residential, cultural, commercial, education, and conservation. He has particular expertise in leading complex streetscape, urban design, and regeneration projects, and is passionate about transforming urban highways into greener, more environmentally responsive places that prioritise pedestrians and cyclists while supporting biodiversity and sustainable water management.

Andy provides high-level oversight of both design and technical outputs, working closely with project teams and clients to ensure successful delivery. At John McAslan + Partners, his key projects include Sloane Street Masterplan, London (2012–2025), Msheireb Museums Public Realm, Doha (2014–2017), Weavers Cross, Belfast (2016–ongoing), and the Burrell Collection, Glasgow (2016–2022).

Director

Colin Bennie joined John McAslan + Partners in 2015 and brings over 25 years’ experience in the delivery of complex infrastructure and transport-led masterplanning projects in the UK and internationally. He has worked across all project stages, from feasibility through to commissioning and handover, with a strong track record in interdisciplinary coordination, design quality, and delivery to accelerated programmes.

Colin has acted as Lead Architect on a number of high-profile transport projects, including Penn Station Renewal in New York, Sydney Central Station, Belfast Grand Central Station, HS1 at St Pancras International, and the Thameslink Programme. His international experience also includes work in Qatar on the Doha Metro icon stations and advisory roles on major US rail hubs.

Colin’s professional focus is rooted in transport-led regeneration, with a particular passion for delivering world-class infrastructure that integrates complex technical requirements while creating inclusive, high-quality civic environments.

Fanos Panayides Managing Partner

Fanos Panayides

Managing Partner

Fanos Panayides joined John McAslan + Partners in 2003 and is the Managing Director of the practice. He has played a leading role in a wide range of cultural, masterplanning, transport, urban infrastructure, commercial, mixed-use, and residential projects, many involving significant historic and listed buildings. He brings extensive experience in stakeholder engagement, user-group collaboration, and leading large international design teams.

As Director of Major Projects, Fanos has led the design and delivery of some of the practice’s most complex and high-profile schemes, including the $5bn Msheireb Downtown Doha regeneration, a 35-hectare masterplan integrating cultural, educational, residential, commercial, and transport infrastructure projects. His work spans the Middle East, Europe, Asia, Australia, and North America.

Within the practice, Fanos oversees the Middle East portfolio and major projects and leads technical reviews across the studio. His professional focus is on delivering world-class, transport-led and culturally significant projects that combine design excellence with technical rigour and long-term civic value.

Imran Patel

Associate Director

Imran has 20 years’ experience working on large-scale, complex projects, combining strong design and planning capability with technical expertise, stakeholder management, and delivery-focused leadership. He has worked across all project stages, from bid and concept design through to construction, on projects ranging in scale up to $20+ billion.

Imran has developed trusted client relationships, including with Sydney Metro, and has extensive experience on projects requiring close engagement with third parties. He has successfully acted as a client representative for interface management on complex, infrastructure-led schemes. As Project Lead, Imran has led multidisciplinary teams and is recognised for his strong resource management skills and design focused yet pragmatic approach to delivering project.

His work spans major international transport and civic projects, including Penn Station Renewal in New York, Sydney Metro stations at Waterloo and Central, Grand Central Station in Belfast, Dubai Metro in UAE and cultural projects in the Middle East. Imran is passionate about delivering high-quality architecture within technically demanding environments, where engineered interfaces and design collaboration are critical to success.

Chairman

John McAslan is the Founder and Executive Chairman of John McAslan + Partners. Born in Glasgow and educated at the University of Edinburgh, he trained in Boston with Cambridge Seven Associates before joining Richard Rogers and Partners in London. He co-founded Troughton McAslan in 1984 and established John McAslan + Partners in 1996.

John is active across all areas of the practice’s work, supporting projects from studios in London, Edinburgh, Sydney and New York. He is particularly committed to interdisciplinary collaboration and the close integration of architecture, engineering, landscape, and specialist consultants – an approach that is a defining hallmark of the practice.

Under his leadership, John McAslan + Partners has received more than 200 international design awards and has been widely published. John is deeply engaged in education, philanthropy, and cultural initiatives, including the establishment of international bursaries and charitable trusts supporting architecture, the arts, and heritage. Appointed CBE in 2012, he continues to contribute to architectural culture through professional, academic, and creative pursuits, including film and the arts.

Kit Bullas

Associate Director – Landscape

Kit Bullas is an Associate Director at John McAslan + Partners and a Landscape Architect with over a decade of experience in the design and delivery of complex public realm and streetscape projects in the UK and internationally. His work focuses on creating resilient, people-first urban spaces that balance movement, sustainability, heritage, and long-term performance.

At JMP, Kit co-leads the Landscape Studio and plays a central role in the practice’s public realm portfolio. He has led major city-centre projects including George Square and the Avenues in Glasgow and the completed Sloane Street in London, working from concept through to on-site delivery across highly constrained, politically sensitive, and technically complex sites. These projects transform traffic-dominated streets into inclusive civic environments through green infrastructure, climate resilience, and high-quality placemaking.

Earlier in his career, Kit worked on major infrastructure and public realm projects in Australia, leading the delivery of the award-winning Allianz Stadium in Sydney. Alongside project delivery, Kit provides senior leadership within the practice and oversees sustainability across landscape and architectural projects.

Leonardo holds a Master’s Degree in Architecture from Europe and has developed a specialty in digital design and BIM technologies. Driven by a passion for sustainability and collaboration, he leads the implementation of BIM processes across the studio – managing workflows, setting standards, and supporting teams to achieve seamless coordination and project delivery. His approachable nature and technical expertise help bridge design ambition with practical execution.

Lester Korzilius is a Director at John McAslan + Partners with over 40 years of experience in the design and delivery of world-class buildings. His commercial portfolio includes Project Director roles on major office developments in the City of London, the design of the London International Futures and Options Exchange, a 30-storey office building in New York, and the masterplan and multiple buildings at More London.

Lester is a licensed architect in both the United States and the United Kingdom and has practised extensively across both countries on projects worldwide. His career reflects a deep understanding of complex commercial development, large-scale urban masterplanning, and the delivery of high-quality architecture.

He trained with some of the most influential architects of the late twentieth century, including John Lautner, Paul Rudolph, Herman Hertzberger, and Richard Rogers. This formative experience has shaped a rigorous yet inventive design approach, combining technical excellence with a strong architectural vision.

Lizz Riley-Evans joined John McAslan + Partners in 2007 as a model maker and now manages the practice’s model shop. She plays a central role in supporting design development and communication across the studio through high-quality physical models that inform both internal design processes and client engagement.

Lizz studied Model Making at the Kent Institute of Art and Design, where she was awarded a BTEC Higher National Diploma. During her studies, she completed a work placement at Foster + Partners and subsequently joined the practice while continuing her education. She was later selected by Sir Norman Foster to attend Buckingham Palace to accept the Queen’s Award for Export on his behalf.

In 2003, Lizz co-founded Vista Models, producing architectural models for leading practices including David Chipperfield Architects, Zaha Hadid Architects, HOK, HTA, MJP, and Foster + Partners. Her work has been exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, most recently for Sydney Central Station.

As Executive Assistant to John McAslan, Nicola manages all aspects of the Chairman's demanding schedule.

Her broader role includes coordinating a variety of internal projects, for example JMP's monograph 'Making Architecture: The Work of John McAslan + Partners'. She is also involved in organising events for the practice.

Nicola brings long experience to the practice. During her 35-year career she has worked for some of the UK’s foremost architectural practices, including Farrells and David Chipperfield Architects: before joining JMP in 2017, she was for many years assistant to the late Sir Richard MacCormac CBE.

Nik Van Herpt leads the Visualisation Department at John McAslan + Partners, directing the production of high-fidelity architectural imagery and cinematic film content. With a background in architecture and photography, Nik has spent over 20 years bridging the gap between complex technical data and photographic reality.

He works strategically with design teams to translate large-scale architectural concepts into precise visual material for planning and stakeholder engagement. His expertise is focused on major international transport and infrastructure schemes, and urban regeneration projects where he ensures visual outputs remain technically anchored to the site context.

Under his leadership, the studio implements advanced real-time simulation and ray tracing workflows to deliver high-fidelity outputs under demanding programmes. Nik prioritises technical integrity and material accuracy, ensuring the firm’s visual assets are as robust as the architectural models they represent.

Peter Lee joined John McAslan + Partners as Associate Director and leads the Edinburgh studio, following over 20 years’ experience working in high-profile design studios in London. He brings a wealth of experience delivering complex and challenging projects across Scotland, the UK, and internationally, with a proven track record of taking projects from initial inception through to completion on site.

Peter has worked extensively with world-leading cultural institutions and blue-chip commercial clients, successfully translating ambitious briefs into carefully crafted architectural solutions. He is particularly passionate about achieving the highest design quality while delivering sensitive, low-carbon responses for both new buildings and adaptive reuse projects.

At John McAslan + Partners, Peter leads major cultural, masterplanning, and international projects, including mosque developments and large-scale regeneration initiatives in Saudi Arabia, and the Art Works collection storage facility for the National Galleries of Scotland. His work is characterised by rigorous design thinking, contextual sensitivity, and a strong commitment to sustainability.

Rupert Buxton is Chief Operating Officer at John McAslan + Partners, bringing nearly 20 years’ experience across commercial, operational, legal, and financial leadership within leading global architecture practices. He is responsible for safeguarding the practice’s financial resilience and operational performance, ensuring that creative excellence is underpinned by robust commercial strategy.

Rupert’s expertise spans business performance and operational efficiency, budgeting and forecasting, financial and operational due diligence, contract negotiation, dispute resolution, and risk management. He works closely with project teams and leadership to optimise financial outcomes while protecting design integrity and long-term value.

Passionate about enabling creative businesses to thrive, Rupert combines commercial rigour with creative agility, guiding complex international projects to deliver outstanding architecture while maintaining strong governance and sustainable growth.

Ryan Wazir is an Associate Director at John McAslan + Partners and provides strategic design leadership across major public, cultural, and community focused projects. He works in close partnership with clients and stakeholders both in Australia and internationally. His practice is driven by a commitment to inclusive, community centred architecture, with expertise in urban renewal, adaptive reuse, and heritage management.

Alongside practice, Ryan is an active researcher and contributor to the architectural profession. He is a Byera Hadley Travelling Scholar and a 2026 Fellow at the State Library of NSW.

Sarah Kirby is a Director at John McAslan + Partners and leads the practice’s Education and Culture Studio. She has over 25 years’ experience as an architect, specialising in the design and delivery of complex cultural and educational projects from concept through to construction. Prior to joining JMP in 2012, Sarah worked extensively in the UK, the Middle East, and Australia on large-scale cultural and education schemes.

Sarah has held Director roles across multiple practices, including her own, and brings strong project leadership and design expertise to the delivery of ambitious institutional projects. She has acted as Project Director for a wide range of works for some of the UK’s most prestigious schools, universities, and cultural institutions.

At John McAslan + Partners, Sarah leads major projects including the National Collections Centre for the Science Museum Group, the transformation of Osney Power Station for Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford, and significant projects for the Natural History Museum and the Royal British Columbia Museum. Her work is characterised by rigorous design thinking, sensitivity to historic contexts, and a deep understanding of complex client requirements.

Sophie Perritt joined John McAslan + Partners in 2022 and is an Associate based in the Edinburgh studio. She has over eight years of professional experience across public-sector and private practice environments, with a particular interest in cultural and civic buildings. Her rigorous approach combines contextual design thinking with a deep understanding of individual client requirements, formulating a considered response to both brief and place.

Sophie has significant expertise in leading complex cultural and educational projects with large international design teams, notably the MBS Global Center for Arabic Calligraphy in Riyadh. Her current projects include the Malawi Dental School and Integrated Teaching Facility in Blantyre, and the Art Works collections storage facility for the National Galleries of Scotland. Prior to joining JMP, Sophie worked extensively on hotel and retail projects across the UK, with a strong focus on interior design.

Stephen Leccacorvi joined John McAslan + Partners in 2024 and is an Associate Architect registered with the ARB. His approach to architecture is informed by a strong foundation in fine art, having originally trained in sculpture at Manchester Metropolitan University. This background continues to shape his design thinking, with a deep understanding of materiality, form, and construction informing his architectural work.

After several years working overseas, Stephen returned to London to complete his architectural training at Kingston University. He has since developed extensive experience leading multi-million-pound mixed-use commercial developments, listed building refurbishments, and high-end residential projects in London and internationally.

Stephen brings strong delivery expertise, having led teams through complex, fast-paced projects where programme certainty and coordination were critical. At John McAslan + Partners, he is working on the transformation of Osney Power Station into Saïd Business School’s Global Leadership Centre in Oxford. His work combines creative rigour with a pragmatic, construction-led approach to complex projects.

With over 35 years of architectural experience, Troy leads the Sydney studio with a passion for collaboration and a belief in design’s power to enrich daily life. His career spans Australia, the USA, and Italy, shaping a deep appreciation for cultural projects and the role urban design plays in creating healthy, connected environments. Troy thrives in team settings where collective effort leads to meaningful outcomes. He has taught design at the University of Sydney and has been a guest critic at UTS, UNSW, and Newcastle University. A committed advocate for the profession, Troy contributes to the AIA’s mentoring initiatives and previously served on its Sustainability Committee. He is registered with the Green Building Council of Australia.

James Coakley Associate

James Coakley

James Coakley is an Associate Architect and a Registered Architect with the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland. He joined the Sydney studio of John McAslan + Partners following professional experience in both private practice and several well-established architectural and engineering practices in Ireland.

James has significant experience delivering large-scale residential, mixed-use, and masterplanning projects for private developers, institutional, and public-sector clients. He has acted as Project Architect on a wide range of schemes, leading multidisciplinary design teams from early feasibility and planning stages through to construction and completion.

James brings a strong understanding of construction, technical coordination, and project management, enabling him to navigate complex design challenges and identify key deliverables to support successful project outcomes. He has a particular interest in placemaking, with a focus on site-specific responses and the social integration of projects within their immediate context and the wider public realm.

At John McAslan + Partners, James has worked on King Salman Park in Riyadh and the Sydney Metro Waterloo Station.

Miguel Machado is an Associate at John McAslan + Partners, bringing experience from leading architectural practices in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. He has developed a strong specialism in Digital Design Technologies and Building Information Management (BIM) alongside his work as an architect, combining technical expertise with a clear understanding of design and delivery processes.

Miguel has extensive experience in developing and delivering Digital Design strategies for CAD and BIM workflows and compliance, working across a wide range of project scales and typologies, from complex adaptive reuse schemes to large-scale masterplans. His expertise includes Digital Design, AI and emerging technologies along with Information Management and BIM delivery.

Within the practice, Miguel leads the Digital Design strategy, establishing procedures, processes and alignment with UK standards and best practice. He holds RIBA Part III from UCL The Bartlett, a Master of Architecture (Professional) from the University of Auckland, and a Bachelor of Architectural Studies from the University of Auckland.

As Financial Controller at John McAslan and Partners, Rina provides strategic financial leadership across the practice, supporting the long-term vision and sustainability of the business. She plays a key role at Board level, combining strong commercial acumen with a collaborative leadership style to guide decision-making and ensure the firm remains financially resilient in a complex global environment.

Rina began her career in finance at HLM Architects before spending ten years in senior finance roles at Grimshaw Architects. As a Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA), she has led finance functions through a range of economic climates, consistently strengthening financial governance while enabling growth. She is experienced in building, mentoring, and empowering high-performing finance teams, fostering a culture of accountability, clarity, and continuous improvement.

Her leadership strengths lie in delivering clear, robust financial reporting and translating financial insight into strategic guidance for senior leadership and the Board. She works closely with stakeholders across the practice to direct the business, maintain financial stability, and maximise financial performance. Rina also brings significant experience in leading the integration of financial and project management systems, implementing tailored solutions that align operational performance with strategic objectives.

Rohan Kempadoo is the Practice Manager at John McAslan + Partners and leads the day to day running of the practice with a role that encompasses facilities management, IT management, HR, ISO compliance and operations. 

Since joining in 2022, Rohan played a key part in organising the move to our present offices and has been instrumental in overseeing the smooth and effective management of day-to-day operations of the practice. Rohan has 15 years’ experience of practice management in the architecture industry, gained in a number of practices  and is a member of several industry-wide forums and networks.

With over 25 years of experience supporting award-winning architecture practices, Alison is the operational heart of the Sydney studio. Overseeing onboarding, HR, and facilities management, Alison is valued for her proactive and people-focused approach. She continuously refines systems that enhance team efficiency, collaboration, and enjoyment in the workplace.
