Engaging in Culture – a lecture by John McAslan

In the beginning of January, John delivered an insightful lecture at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS) in Mumbai, which emphasised the importance of engaging with culture in architecture.
John discussed how architecture should resonate with the historical and cultural contexts of its location and highlighted the practice's projects where design is deeply intertwined with local heritage, identity, and social impact.
Through its work, JMP advocates for an approach that not only delivers functionality, but also fosters cultural dialogue, respects traditions and responds innovatively to contemporary needs.
