His Majesty King Charles III officially reopened the refurbished Burrell Collection 39 years after the Queen first opened it. The Burrell reopened to public earlier this year in March after a five-year £68m renovation and enhancement project.
King Charles was greeted by local school and nursery children at the museum’s new entrance plaza. The King then toured the museum, taking in some of the highlights of the 9,000 items that make up the collection, before speaking with key members of the museum, client and project team, including John McAslan who shared the practice’s work as lead architect on the complex renewal project.
