On Tuesday 22 June, John McAslan presented at Sydney’s National Art School on adapting older and heritage buildings to meet contemporary audience and user needs, with a spotlight on the recently complete Burrell Collection in Glasgow. Opened in March 2022, The Burrell Collection whilst outwardly unchanged, has been restored and retuned to the highest standards, allowing much greater flexibility and access to the collection, whilst markedly improved energy efficiency and accessibility.
John McAslan + Partners has an extensive history in adaptive reuse and conservation, which is a hallmark of the practice’s work. Working across all sectors, projects include the highly awarded Roundhouse in London, King’s Cross Station, St Albans Museum and Gallery in the UK and Sydney’s Central Station.
