The Global Leadership Centre for Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, has received The International Architecture Award for 2022.
The project, which is currently under construction, will repurpose a former Victorian power station into a world-leading residential learning complex for executive education. Harnessing the buildings’ industrial character and existing fabric, the old turbine hall will be retained as an open ‘agora’ providing a vibrant collegiate meeting place at the heart of the facility promoting collaboration and engagement. The building’s sustainable performance will be greatly improved through employing Passivhaus principles, the installation of 229 photovoltaic panels on the roof and an air source heat pump which will put the building on course to run on zero-carbon in the future following its completion in 2024.
The International Architecture Awards recognise excellence in architecture and urbanism from a global point-of-view and are the most extensive architecture awards programme in the world. This is the seventh year which John McAslan + Partners has been recognised in these prestigious awards.
