Public consultation is underway for Glasgow’s George Square and surrounding streets as part of Glasgow City Council’s £115 million ‘Avenues’ programme.
John McAslan + Partners have been commissioned to reconsider the synergy and balance between George Square, Glasgow's principal civic, ceremonial and cultural space, and the surrounding streets in relation to contemporary life. The aim is to improve the public realm in order to rebalance traffic modes, introduce green and SMART infrastructure, and place “people” firmly at the heart of the project vision and design strategy.
Councillor Susan Aitken, Leader of Glasgow City Council, said: "George Square should be Glasgow's greatest civic space - and, through this consultation, we all have the opportunity to make sure the square and its surrounding Avenues that meets our aspirations for the future.’
The online consultation is open for four weeks and can be found here: www.ourplaceglasgow.com
