Andrew Shields
Andrew has over 40 years of experience in the UK, Asia and Australia on highly technical projects from infrastructure and rail to large scale commercial development. He has extensive experience across all stages of planning, design and delivery, and confidently manages the complex interface between clients, consultants and stakeholders.
Prior to joining John McAslan + Partners, Andrew worked on transport and infrastructure in Hong Kong, Japan, China, India and Singapore, and for the past seven years has worked in Sydney and Melbourne on some of Australia’s largest metro projects. He led the Sydney Metro West Scoping and Definition Design, worked on Sydney Metro Barangaroo Station and led the architectural design on all the stations on Melbourne’s Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) from concept through to reference designs.
Other notable projects include station planning and design of the Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) SRL East interchange stations and future proofing of the Airport Rail interchange, and in Singapore, the Singapore High-Speed Rail Terminus tender design. He has a strong interest in the urban integration of multi-modal transport and worked on Sydney's Central Precinct Renewal Project.
Andrew enjoys being part of a design-focused team where he can forge strong relationships and be a mentor to younger staff members. He is based in John McAslan + Partners' Sydney studio.
